I originally stumbled upon a reddit thread that was about (great) free games. My first real VN experience: Katawa Shoujo You see, my first introduction to the genre as a whole happened last year, with a rather unique visual novel. I spent most of my time playing adventure games, for example.

If youвЂ™re in Europe, some of the content offered on Crunchyroll could be limited (some showsвЂ™ regional availability differs) but still might be useful. If you live in North America, Crunchyroll is a great source for anime streaming that is 100% legal. Internationally, anime has gotten more popular and mainstream, with shows like Attack on Titan doing pretty well, and finding new viewership. You see, plenty of more serious anime exist - ones that tell stories about sadness, hope, happiness, overcoming adversity, and much more. The animation and visual style is just the way these shows are presented, as opposed to them being representative of something like a genre.

Since the medium is famous for childrenвЂ™s cartoons, itвЂ™s easy to think the medium is nothing but cartoons for children. ItвЂ™s easy to have some misconceptions about anime. The shows I just named are anime that have been dubbed over for an international audience. Along with shows such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, Beyblade and Naruto, these kind of вЂcartoon showsвЂ™ are not exactly unknown. After all, internationally PokГ©mon is very well known. You may have heard about anime, Japanese animation. Some projects and sites mentioned in this post might no longer be available, since there are many more legal ways to get visual novels today than there were about a decade ago.ДЄ short discourse on anime What is anime?
